Ukrainian forces repel 46 Russian attacks as fighting rages in Donbas
A total of 88 combat engagements took place in the frontline on Dec. 2, with the Russians attacking mostly in the Bakhmut and Avdiivka sectors, the Ukrainian military’s General Staff said in its morning report on Dec. 3, the 648th day of Russia’s full-scale invasion and war.
- In the Kupyansk sector, the enemy conducted assault operations in the areas of Synkivka, northeast of Petropavlivka, Ivanivka in Kharkiv Oblast and Stelmakhivka in Luhansk Oblast, where the Defense Forces repelled seven attacks.
- In the Lyman sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the area of Serebryanske forestry in Luhansk Oblast, where the Defense Forces repulsed four attacks.
- In the Bakhmut sector, the enemy conducted assault operations in the areas of Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, Andriyivka and Klishchiyivka in Donetsk Oblast, where Ukrainian defenders repelled 21 attacks.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the enemy, and consolidating their positions.
- In the Avdiivka sector, the enemy, with the support of aviation, is continuing to try to encircle Avdiivka, but Ukrainian soldiers are holding steadfast, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. Russia’s offensive actions were unsuccessful in the areas east of Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, Severne, south of Tonenke, and Pervomayske in Donetsk Oblast, where the Defense Forces repelled 25 attacks.
- In the Maryinka sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the areas of Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast, where the Defense Forces repelled 11 attacks.
- In the Shakhtarsk sector, the enemy conducted unsuccessful assault operations in the areas southeast of Vuhledar and west of Staromayorsk in Donetsk Oblast, where Ukrainian troops repelled three attacks.
- In the Zaporizhzhya sector, the enemy unsuccessfully tried 12 times to regain lost ground in the areas south of Robotyne, west and northwest of Verbove in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
- At the same time, Ukrainian forces are continuing to conduct an offensive in the Melitopol sector, where they are inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire front line.
- In the Kherson sector, Ukrainian forces continue to hold their positions on the east bank of the Dnipro River, continue to conduct counter-battery combat, and inflict fire on the enemy's rear.
At the same time, Russian troops continue to shell civilian targets with artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and aircraft.
In total, the enemy launched three missiles and 20 air strikes and fired 53 times at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Overnight, the Russians also attacked Ukraine once again, using an X-59 guided missile and 12 Shahed-136/131 UAVs.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian missile forces struck two clusters of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment, an enemy command post, three ammunition depots and four artillery pieces over the course of the day.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
