59 combat clashes along four frontline oblasts, with Donetsk Oblast seeing the heaviest fighting
There have been 59 combat encounters on the front lines during the last 24 hours, with Ukrainian forces repelling the majority of Russian attacks near Avdiivka, reported the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff on Jan. 21.
Kupyansk sector — Ukrainian defenders repelled seven attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv Oblast, where the enemy attempted to break through the Ukrainian troops' defense.
Lyman sector — Four attacks were repelled in the areas of Terny and Yampilivka, Donetsk Oblast, and six more attacks near Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast, where the enemy tried to break through the Ukrainian defense.
Bakhmut sector — Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled five attacks near Bohdanivka, Ivanivske, and Klishchiivka, Donetsk Oblast, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to improve its tactical positions.
Avdiivka sector — Ukrainian defenders repelled five attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Steppove, and Avdiivka, and nine more attacks south of Severne, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske, Donetsk Oblast, where the enemy unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian forces.
Marinka sector — Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue to restrain the enemy in the areas of Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk Oblast, where the occupiers unsuccessfully tried to improve their tactical position three times.
Shakhtarsk sector — The enemy did not conduct offensive actions.
Zaporizhzhya sector — The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled four attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhya Oblast, where the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to regain lost positions.
Kherson sector — The enemy continues to try to dislodge Ukrainian units from bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Russians carried out six unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
Russian troops continue to shell civilian objects and positions of Ukrainian troops. Over the last 24 hours, the enemy carried out four missile and 69 air strikes, and conducted 50 shelling attacks with MLRS. The enemy also actively uses radio-controlled drones.
Ukrainian aviation struck nine areas where enemy personnel, armaments, and military equipment were concentrated over last 24 hours. Missile troop units hit a command post, three artillery systems, and one Russian air defense asset.
