Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed all 37 Shahed-131/136 attack drones launched by Russia, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk reported on Telegram on the night of May 19.

Russian invaders launched Shahed drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk in Russia. Ukrainian Air Defense Forces, along with anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare (EW) units, were mobilized to counter the air attack.

Drones were shot down across multiple Ukrainian oblasts including Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, and Kherson.

Oleschuk praised the forces involved, stating, "To all who ensured this result, thank you for your hard work!"

The Wall Street Journal reported that Ukraine's missile interception rate has decreased over the past six months, capturing about 46% of Russian missiles, down from 73% in the previous period. In April alone, the rate fell to 30%. However, the rate of destroying Russian drones decreased slightly to 82%.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
