Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 54 of 78 Russian strike drones launched overnight into Oct. 11, with hits recorded at six locations across the country, the Air Force reported on Telegram.

Russia fired 78 drones, including Shahed, Gerbera, and other types—with more than 40 being Shaheds—from the Oryol, Millerovo, and Kursk in Russia and occupied Crimea’s Chauda.

Ukrainian electronic warfare units, drone teams, and mobile fire groups countered the assault.

As of 9 a.m., defenses downed or jammed 54 drones over the north, south, and east. 21 drones struck six sites, and the attack was ongoing with several enemy drones still airborne, the Air Force warned.

In Odesa, the assault caused partial blackouts and water disruptions.

In Chuhuyiv, Kharkiv Oblast, the barrage sparked a fire and temporary power outage, injuring one resident who received on-site medical aid.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
