All Challenger 2 tanks already in Ukraine, says UK defence secretary
All of the UK-made Challenger 2 battle tanks, promised for delivery to Ukraine, have already arrived, UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told the House of Commons on May 11.
These are either 14 or 28 tanks – in January, Wallace confirmed that his country would transfer 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine, but Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Vadym Prystaiko stated that Ukraine would receive twice as many Challenger 2 tanks from the British government as it had initially promised.
According to Wallace, aside from the tanks, Ukraine has also received Spartan armored personnel carriers and other armored vehicles.
Wallace added that Ukrainian servicemembers had already undergone training on those vehicles, and that they had praised the operation of the Challenger 2 tanks.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov published video footage of Challenger 2 tanks in Ukraine on March 27.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
