Russian Shahed attack injures 9 in Odesa, hits homes

A Russian Shahed drone attack on Odesa during the day on July 1 injured nine people and caused damage to infrastructure, according to a Telegram post by the Odesa city council.

Odesa Oblast governor Oleh Kiper, speaking on the national telethon program, said seven people were hospitalized. The attack damaged civilian infrastructure, a residential building, a service station, and a stable.

Kiper noted that Russian forces struck the city with attack drones in the middle of a working day, when many people were on beaches and streets.

The city council reported damage to civilian infrastructure, residential and administrative buildings, and vehicles.

All injured individuals are receiving medical assistance, according to the statement.  

Earlier on July 11, explosions were heard in Odesa, with Ukraine’s Air Force reporting a group of attack drones near the city and active air defense operations. Local Telegram channels reported hits in Odesa.

The previous night, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv with Shahed drones, damaging a maternity hospital and injuring eight people.
