Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said the country won’t expand its Russia sanctions to include a ban on Russian tourists, the Reuters news agency reported on Sept. 18.

According to the minister, Australian sanctions are aimed at Russia’s government, not its citizens.

“This is not something we are considering at the moment,” said Marles.

He also declined to say if Australia will provide Ukraine with more Bushmaster armored vehicles or other similar equipment, following a corresponding request from Kyiv.

“We will be looking at how we can provide that ongoing support,” the minister said, adding that Australia is “one of the largest non-NATO military supporters of Ukraine.”

Australia has pledged 88 armored vehicles to Ukraine, and introduced a set of sanctions against Russia, including a ban on sale of aluminum ore.
