French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot arrived in Kyiv to take part in a conference of ambassadors, according to his July 21 X post.

"Last night, Russian strikes targeted four districts of Kyiv. Subway stations, shops, kindergartens and preschools have all suffered the brunt of the Kremlin's deadly violence," he said after visiting a site of the devastating Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital.

Barrot also pledged support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and freedom.

On July 18, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a “very substantive, hourlong conversation” with French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders talked about bolstering Ukraine’s air defenses, including missile deliveries for SAMP/T systems and funding for interceptor drones.
