Air raid alert sounds for second time in one day in Belgorod, Russia says it shot down 12 missiles

Explosions have been heard in the Russian city of Belgorod and missle traces are visible in the sky, likely from air defense, reported Russian Telegram channel Zhest Belgorod on Feb. 8.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia said that 12 Ukrainian missiles were allegedly shot down over Belgorod Oblast.

Earlier, on Feb. 8, Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the villages of Novaya Tavolzhanka and Rzhivka in Shebekinsky Raion came under fire. He claims that five people were injured. Gladkov also claimed that air defense shot down a UAV near the village of Bezsonovka.

The Governor blamed the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

There has been no official comments from Ukraine thus far.
