A collision involving a passenger bus and a car in Boryspil left one person dead and several others injured, emergency services in Ukraine’s Kyiv Oblast said on May 27.
Authorities said the accident occurred in the morning on Kyivskyi Shliakh Street. There were 17 passengers on the bus, none of whom were initially reported injured, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Rescue workers who arrived at the scene extricated one injured person and the body of a deceased passenger from the car. Four rescuers and one vehicle were involved in the emergency response.
Public broadcaster Suspilne later reported, citing police, that the driver of a Jeep crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with the bus.
The passenger of the car died at the scene, while the driver was hospitalized. Three bus passengers also sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.
Law enforcement authorities opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, which covers violations of traffic safety rules resulting in death or serious injury.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
