Cabinet approves extra social payments ahead of winter
NBU Press Service
The Ukrainian government has signed off on a one-time payment of UAH6,500 ($154) to the most vulnerable citizens under the broader “Winter Support” stimulus package, Ukrainian PM Yulia Svyrydenko said on Nov. 5.
The program targets those in greatest need, including orphans; children under guardianship; children with disabilities in foster families; internally displaced children; displaced persons with disabilities; and lone seniors.
Funds will be disbursed automatically through the State Pension Fund, and the program is set to launch in early December. Svyrydenko said it will reach more than 660,000 people, who can spend the money on medicine, clothing, and footwear.
The PM also specified two other Winter Support initiatives: a one-time payment of UAH1,000 hryvnias to every Ukrainian national inside the country and free domestic travel for citizens.
