The Russian occupation grouping in the area of Novosofiyivka in Kherson Oblast has been reinforced by a unit from Chechnya, the Ukrainian military’s General Staff said in its morning report on Facebook on Nov. 8.

The unit from southern Russia is already reported to be robbing local residents and their homes, the General Staff said.

Earlier, the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces Natalia Humeniuk said that the Russian occupation forces in Kherson Oblast continue to move personnel and strengthen the east bank of the Dnipro River, as well as prepare the information space for the so-called "gestures of goodwill."

The Kremlin used the term “gesture of goodwill” when it abandoned its occupation of Ukraine’s Snake Island in the western Black Sea on June 30 after coming under heavy bombardment by Ukrainian forces. It is now used sarcastically in Ukraine to refer to a Russian retreat from Ukrainian territory.

Humeniuk also noted that Russians are intimidating the residents of the region by threatening to blow up the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant to force them to leave.
