CNN allowed back into White House after judge rules against Trump

CNN journalists were allowed back into the White House on Sept.
24, after a federal court ordered the administration of President Donald
Trump to “temporarily reinstate” their access, the network reported.
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly ruled overnight that the administration’s decision to revoke press credentials for journalists from CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), and Politico had been made without the “due process required by the Constitution.”
CNN correspondent Betsy Klein was subsequently allowed to re-enter the White House. She had earlier been denied entry despite attempting to enter the facility that morning. A photojournalist was also denied access.
Earlier on Sept. 24, journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico were barred from entering the White House, just hours after a federal judge ruled that Trump’s ban on the three news organizations was unconstitutional and ordered their access restored immediately.
In response, the news organizations requested an immediate rehearing.
On Sept. 18, Trump accused CNN, MS NOW, and Politico of spreading “fake news” and said he did not want the outlets’ journalists in the White House. He also suggested that similar restrictions could be imposed on other news organizations.
On Sept. 21, leading U.S. television networks agreed
to suspend joint coverage of Trump’s activities in response to the restrictions
on journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico.
