Colombia arrests Russian man wanted by U.S.

Colombian
authorities arrested 42-year-old Russian citizen Denis Alimov at El Dorado
International Airport in Bogota on Feb. 24, Spanish newspaper El País reported.
Alimov, wanted by Interpol, arrived on a Turkish Airlines flight and had planned to travel from Bogota to Cartagena. He was detained in an operation carried out by Colombia’s migration service.
U.S. authorities had sought Alimov on charges of conspiracy and financing terrorist acts. According to the indictment, U.S. prosecutors say Alimov took part in a conspiracy from October 2024 to March 2025 to kill two “widely known” people in Europe; their names were not disclosed.
The indictment alleges that in October 2024 Alimov
transferred about COP220 million ($60,000) to finance an attack that included a
reward of COP5 billion ($1.5 million) per person. Colombia’s authorities said
he is wanted “for providing technical information and recruiting others.” One
of his alleged accomplices was arrested in March 2025 in New York.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
