Corrupt commander detained in Zhytomyr Oblast
A commander of a Ukrainian military unit in Zhytomyr Oblast was detained on corruption charges, Specialized Military Prosecutor's Office announced on Aug. 6.
According to the announcement, the accused ordered soldiers
under his command to neglect their duties and do construction work on his
private residence instead.
The investigation asserts that the suspect defrauded the state by illegally allocating over UAH 378,000 ($9,200) in salaries and additional payments to his subordinates.
The commander has been detained and charged with abuse of power.
