Zelenskyy visits Netherlands as part of diplomatic peace push

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the Netherlands early on Dec. 16 for an official visit, Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne reported, citing presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn.
The Dutch government announced that Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with King Willem-Alexander and Prime Minister Dick Schoof.
The discussions are expected to focus on peace negotiations and the Netherlands’ “unwavering support for Ukraine,” according to officials.
Zelenskyy’s visit comes shortly after a series of high-level diplomatic talks in Berlin. On December 15, negotiations between Zelenskyy and Steve Witkoff, special envoy to the U.S. President Donald Trump, and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, concluded after more than two hours.
Following the talks, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Washington is prepared to assume legally binding security obligations for Ukraine comparable to NATO’s Article 5 collective defense clause.
After the first day of talks on Dec. 14, Witkoff said the five-hour meeting resulted in “significant progress” toward a potential peace agreement.
