Drapatyi scraps more than 30 outdated General Staff orders

Drapatyi recently canceled more than 30 outdated General Staff orders,
including documents governing military training and requiring extensive formal
reporting.
Vitalii Sarantsev, head of communications for the 14th Army
Corps, said
on Sept. 9.
Sarantsev said Drapatyi canceled old training programs,
outdated firing programs and physical training concepts dating back a decade.
Dozens of interim documents amending previous rules were
also scrapped. Sarantsev said they “only cluttered the Armed Forces’ regulatory
framework.”
The changes also resolved many legal conflicts between
training standards developed during the full-scale war and outdated
requirements dating from the 2016–2020 Anti-Terrorist Operation and Joint
Forces Operation period, Sarantsev said.
“Long-obsolete instructions that had existed only on paper
for years, requiring formal reports, ‘check boxes’ and ‘tables,’ were
scrapped,” Sarantsev said.
Field commanders are no longer required to file reports or
conduct activities under standards and guidelines that have lost practical
relevance in modern warfare, he said. Sarantsev added that the change frees up
their time for actual work.
“This really is a good, big ‘fall cleanup.’ The army is
getting rid of outdated ballast so it can work faster, in a more modern way and
without unnecessary bureaucracy,” he added.
On Sept. 2, Drapatyi
published the principles that will guide his leadership of the Armed Forces.
The document states first and foremost that service members are the Armed
Forces’ highest value.
