Russia's Udmurtia hit by 'largest' recent drone attack

Explosions were heard in Russia's Udmurt Republic on July 27, with local residents reporting a drone attack, according to the Telegram channel Astra.
The attack reportedly targeted the town of Sarapul and its surrounding area. The monitoring channel Exilenova+ reported a likely strike on the outskirts of Sarapul, where smoke was visible.
Udmurtia Gov. Alexander Brechalov later confirmed that Russian air defenses were repelling what he called the largest recent attack on facilities in the republic. He said several drones had been shot down and that emergency services were working at the strike sites.
Russia's Defense Ministry claimed it "intercepted" 276 drones overnight into July 27. As is typical, the ministry did not disclose how many drones reached their targets.
Sarapul, in the Udmurt Republic, is located roughly 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine's border.
Separately, a nighttime drone attack was reported on the Russian city of Belgorod, including a reported strike on an FSB building.
In Rostov-on-Don, a drone reportedly struck the port area, sparking a fire.
