Duda tells Trump Ukraine can’t win without U.S. support
Polish President Andrzej Duda, commenting on his meeting
with Donald Trump in the U.S., said Ukraine “won’t survive the war” without
Washington’s support. He also noted that “somehow, this war must end,” RMF
FM reported on Feb. 23.
Duda and Trump met on Feb. 22 near Washington during the
Conservative Political Action Conference. In an interview with TV Republika,
the Polish leader said Trump seeks to end the bloodshed in Ukraine.
“Russia cannot be allowed to defeat Ukraine,” Duda said.
However, he noted that the key issue is how to bring the war to an end.
According to the Polish president, “without American
support, Ukraine won’t survive this war.” Looking at Russia and its dictator,
Vladimir Putin, who “doesn’t care about the lives of Russian soldiers,” Duda
reiterated that “somehow, this war must end.”
In an interview with TVN, Duda emphasized that his top
priority is achieving a just peace that ensures long-term stability.
He stressed the need for guarantees that would prevent
another war and stop new aggression from Russia.
On Feb. 21, Duda held a phone call with Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelenskyy, offering advice on working with the White House
administration.
Earlier, Axios reported that Zelenskyy had angered U.S.
President Donald Trump so much that he was ready to halt American military
support for Ukraine.
According to the White House, Zelenskyy had “gotten too used
to” former President Joe Biden’s backing of Ukraine’s military efforts and NATO’s
full support. Another official involved in the talks said the U.S. had “created
a monster out of Zelenskyy.”
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
