The European Union has plans to organize a training program for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said on Aug. 22.
Speaking at a press conference in the northern Spanish city of Santander, Borrell said the relevant issue will be discussed at an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Prague.
“The mission will be deployed not in Ukraine, but in a neighboring country,” he said.
The official added many Ukrainian military personnel are already undergoing training.
“The weapons we provide are quite sophisticated and require training,” Borrell said.
The informal meeting of EU foreign ministers will take place in Prague, the Czech Republic, on Aug. 30-31. Among other things, the participants will discuss a possible EU ban on issuing visas to Russian citizens.
