EU plans to extend EUMAM program by two years — Borrell

14 October 2024, 10:06 PM

Foreign ministers of EU member states recently discussed extending the Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine (EUMAM), Josep Borrell, EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said on Oct. 14.

Borrell stated that Ukrainian forces are "under significant pressure along the entire front line," which has expanded since the beginning of the summer. He suggested that the EU should provide more resources to Kyiv, including boosting the joint training mission.

“We will extend the EUMAM mandate for the next two years,” Borrell announced, adding that he hopes the extension will be promptly approved by the EU Council.
