Former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov personally handed and explained his ‘war plan’ to his successor, Yevhenii Khmara, Fedorov said on Aug. 6.

"This was the first thing I did; I showed it to him personally …," Fedorov said in an interview with Serhii Sternenko.

"I explained the logic — how that logic of the war plan then deconstructs into procurement, into development."

Fedorov said detailed planning breaks an overall strategy into hundreds of separate projects, from weapons production to securing financing.

"If you look at the details, you understand that by the end of the fall you need to make cheap missiles; you need at least this many of them,” the former minister expanded.

“For that you need to sort out the supply chain, work with manufacturers, sign contracts, find the money. It's a deconstruction into hundreds of projects.”

He said the immediate priority is confirming a full minister (Khmara has served as acting defense minister since Fedorov’s dismissal).

“We need to appoint a defense minister so the country can keep working,” Fedorov said.

“When we get past Aug. 18, when the Verkhovna Rada [Ukrainian parliament] returns from recess, I will continue to talk about my path — what we will do. I have options B, C, D. It's important to work for our victory and implement the war plan we discussed today.”

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
