Fedorov pivots to urging preparation for postwar elections, not an immediate vote

Fedorov say preparations for postwar elections must begin now, Ukrainska
Pravda reported on Aug. 21, citing people close to Fedorov.
His team said Fedorov’s remarks were not a call to hold the vote “tomorrow” but a push to start planning the electoral process and resolve related issues. They argued that even after the Russo–Ukrainian war ends, Ukraine will need a transition period to prepare for elections and should already be working through scenarios for voting under wartime conditions.
Proposals include coordination with the Central Election Commission and the Constitutional Court, passage of necessary legislation, updates to the electoral code, and the creation of new polling stations. The team said it has developed options for safe voting for different groups of citizens.
For military personnel, the team suggested setting up special polling stations at the front. Other service members could vote at regular polling places if they are in large towns near the front. For civilians in frontline areas, they proposed using existing infrastructure such as underground schools, kindergartens, and parts of university buildings.
To help Ukrainians abroad, the team recommended a preliminary online registration system to simplify organizing voting. They are also considering holding elections over several days rather than on a single day to avoid large crowds at polling places.
Neither Fedorov nor his aides specified whether presidential
or parliamentary elections should be held first once conditions allow.
