Finland is involved in the coalition to provide Ukraine with Leopard battle tanks, the Ukrinform news agency quoted Finnish Defense Minister Mikko Savola as saying on Feb. 14.

According to Savola, this involves cooperation not only in supplying the weapons, but also in providing spare parts, training tankers, and providing logistics.

However, Finland has few tanks, the defense minister noted.

He did not specify what exactly the country’s participation in the “tank coalition” means, but pointed out that “there are many ways to participate in it, e.g. training, spare parts, logistics, etc.”

“But Finland is involved,” Savola added.

U.S. newspaper The Wall Street Journal reported on Feb. 9 that Finland does not plan to directly transfer tanks to Ukraine until Ukraine becomes a full NATO member.
