One killed, three injured, 100 evacuated in Russian drone strike on Ternopil
One person was killed and three others were injured in an overnight Russian drone strike on an apartment building in the administrative center of Ternopil in western Ukraine, the State Emergencies Service (SES) reported on Telegram on Dec. 2, posting photos of the aftermath.
The strike set fire to the building's upper floors, prompting the evacuation of about 100 residents. Windows in nearby buildings and a school were shattered, and about 20 cars were damaged in the blast.
According to regional governor Vyacheslav Nehoda, rescue and other special services are on the scene. Efforts are also being made to provide temporary shelter for evacuated residents.
The same night, Russian forces carried out a massive drone attack on the Ukrainian capital, triggering air raid alert that lasted more than four hours.
About 20 drones, approaching Kyiv in waves from several directions, were either shot down or suppressed with electronic warfare, regional governor Serhiy Popko wrote on Telegram, reporting no damage or casualties.
Earlier, on Nov. 26, a Russian drone strike damaged a key energy infrastructure facility in Ternopil, leaving 70% of the oblast without power.
