Ukrainian defense contractor Fire Point signed a memorandum
of understanding with Germany’s HENSOLDT to supply radar systems for the FREYJA
pan‑European
ballistic missile defense project, Fire Point told NV at the Eurosatory–2026
defense expo on June 16.
Under the agreement, HENSOLDT will produce, test, and deliver TRML‑4D high‑mobility radars capable of detecting and tracking more than 1,500 targets simultaneously at ranges up to 250 kilometers. The TRML‑4D uses AESA (active electronically scanned array) technology and has demonstrated effectiveness in combat conditions.
Fire Point will be responsible for the overall architecture of the missile defense system and for developing, producing, and integrating FP‑7.x interceptor missiles.
Fire Point CEO and CTO Iryna Terekh said the deal is a key step for FREYJA, which aims to build an independent system to protect European airspace from ballistic threats.
“Combining Ukrainian combat experience, proven Fire Point technologies and HENSOLDT’s leading European sensor solutions creates the basis for a system capable of protecting millions of European citizens from modern ballistic threats,” Terekh said.
“For the first time in history we will create an independent air‑defense system able to protect the European sky. We lacked the radars to implement FREYJA — now we have them, and we can move from concept to practical implementation of a pan‑European anti‑ballistic shield.”
HENSOLDT CEO Oliver Dörre said the company, together with
Ukraine and European partners, wants to help “close one of the biggest gaps in
air- and missile‑defense capabilities.”
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
