Fire Point teases FP-7X interceptor production by end of August

Ukrainian defense contractor Fire
Point could start serial production of its FP-7X interceptor missile by the
end of August, the company said on Aug. 6.
According to the statement, the exact timeline depends on when German-made infrared seekers from Diehl Defence arrive.
“Freyja’s [pan-European air defense development program] first milestone complete,” Fire Point said in a Twitter post.
“FP-7X could enter mass production as early as August, once Fire Point receives German-made infrared seekers from Diehl Defence. European defense giants including Eurosam, Leonardo, Thales and Saab have joined the defense project.”
Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh previously said the company has begun integrating European components into Freyja. She said 13 industrial partners from Europe are already involved and that the number could rise to about 20. Norway’s Kongsberg is working on a command center, and Diehl Defence is considering supplying guidance systems. The system is intended to combine the Ukrainian FP-7X interceptor with European radar and electro‑optical complexes.
“We are now at the most intense and also the most difficult stage of final integration of all components — surveillance radars, tracking radars, and seekers,” Terekh said.
Fire Point expects FP-7X’s first successful interception of a ballistic target by mid-2027. The company said it has conducted at least five tests of the interceptor.
The project aims to produce a more affordable way to counter
ballistic missiles: the cost of each FP-7X should not exceed EUR1 million,
several times cheaper than missiles for Patriot systems.
