Former Ukrenergo chief Kudrytskyi released on bail — reports

Former head of Ukraine’s state energy operator Ukrenergo,
Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, has been released from pretrial detention after posting
bail of 13.7 million hryvnias, RBC-Ukraine
reported on Oct. 30, citing sources.
According to the outlet, the bail was posted for Kudrytskyi,
who faces charges of large-scale fraud.
On Oct. 29, a court ordered Kudrytskyi to remain in custody
until Dec. 26, but allowed his release on bail set at 13,730,000 hryvnias. The
court also accepted personal surety motions from lawmakers Inna Sovsun and
Maksym Khlapuk.
The State Bureau of Investigation conducted searches of
Kudrytskyi’s property on Oct. 21 as part of a criminal probe into suspected
abuse of power and misappropriation of state company funds.
On Oct. 28, SBI agents detained Kudrytskyi in Lviv Oblast.
He and businessman Ihor Hrynkevych — who is under investigation for supplying
substandard clothing to Ukraine’s Armed Forces — were formally charged with
defrauding Ukrenergo.
The former Ukrenergo chief rejected the allegations, saying
he had signed only one document on behalf of the company and that there was no
other evidence of his involvement in the scheme. He called the SBI’s charges
absurd.
Kudrytskyi was dismissed as head of Ukrenergo — a post he
had held since August 2020 — on Sept. 2, 2024, following a decision by the
company’s supervisory board.
