France plans to transfer six more Caesar howitzers to Ukraine in the coming weeks, Minister of the Armed Forces of France Sébastien Lecornu told the French LCI television channel on Nov. 9.
According to the minister, this is the weapon that French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to send to Ukraine as part of military aid.
“We’ll deliver them (howitzers) in the coming weeks,” Lecornu said.
“So far, we’ve delivered other types of artillery of the previous generation, such as TRF1 howitzers.”
The official stressed that France would fulfill its promise to send 24 of these howitzers to Ukraine.
At the same time, he emphasized the military support of Ukraine does not make France part of the conflict.
France has been one of the least enthusiastic suppliers of weapons to Ukraine, ranking 22nd out of 30 donor countries in military aid.
