France will transfer 12 additional Caesar self-propelled guns to Ukraine, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced on Jan. 31.

During a press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksii Reznikov, Lekornu also said that France would send 150 its servicemen to Poland to train Ukrainian military. A total of 2,000 Ukrainian servicemen will undergo training by the summer.

The French minister added that he and his Ukrainian colleague had discussed the issue of tanks. However, he did not specify the details.

In turn, Reznikov said they had also raised the issue of Ukrainian air defenses.

Earlier, French daily newspaper Le Figaro reported that Reznikov would pay a visit to Paris on Jan. 31 to meet with Lecornu and discuss weapons supplies.

According to the Reuters news agency, Reznikov was also due in Paris on Jan. 31 to meet French President Emmanuel Macron.

The day before, Macron did not rule out the supply of fighter jets to Ukraine, saying that “nothing is excluded” when it comes to military assistance.

He also did not rule out the supply of the Leclerc heavy tanks.
