Fugitive Ukrainian prosecutor mobilized into the military
Former Ukrainian prosecutor Rostyslav Ilnytskyi, who was detained after forging documents to leaving the country, has joined the Armed Forces, Ukrainska Pravda reported on July 9.
Sources in law enforcement told the publication that Ilnytskyi has been assigned as an officer, commanding an infantry platoon in one of Ukraine’s infantry brigades.
He was initially served with a draft notice in October 2023, after an unusually lavish wedding ceremony of his has provoked public outrage. However, in December, he disappeared and was declared a fugitive.
On July 6, Ilnytskyi was arrested in Lviv, in connection with an investigation into forging travel documents to leave the country illegally.
