General Staff, grand deal update released by President Zelesnkyy
At a meeting of the General Staff on July 18, President Volodomyr Zelenskyy spoke about Ukraine’s priorities and updated the public about the group’s current activities.
"The top question for today's HQ meeting – maritime grain exports and port security. Vice-PM Oleksandr Kubrakov and Ukrainian Navy commander Oleksiy Neizhpapa reported on supply logistics and defense of coastal regions."
“The number one issue at today’s meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff is the export of grain by sea and port security,” Zelenksyy stated in a Telegram post.
Other issues discussed at the meeting were Ukraine’s fight against enemy UAVs, discussions about the enemy’s plans by Ukraine’s intelligence groups, and updates from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Oleksandr Klymenko, and head of the State Special Services, Yuriy Shchygol.
They also heard battlefield updates from commanders Valery Zaluzhny, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, as well as Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov. Logistics Forces
In addition, Commander Oleh Hulyak updated the group on the supply of projectiles to the front.
Russia’s Withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Agreement – what is known?
In July 2022, the United Nations and Türkiye brokered the Black Sea Grain Initiative with Russia and Ukraine to help alleviate a global food crisis exacerbated by Moscow’s invasion and blockade of Ukrainian ports.
This made it possible to unblock three Ukrainian ports for the export of food. The grain corridor became operational on August 1, 2022.
Russia has repeatedly suspended its participation in the grain agreement, in particular on October 29, when it justified its exit with “explosions” in Sevastopol Bay, blaming Ukraine and Britain.
Since June 27, Russia has not registered a single new ship within the framework of the agreement, effectively halting the work of the grain corridor.
Russia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry threatened to not extend the agreement before it expired on July 17. The Kremlin then used the attack on the Crimean bridge as an excuse to withdraw from the agreement.
The world community condemned Moscow’s actions, with U.S. State Secretary Antony Blinken calling Russia’s decision “unconscionable”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed the continuation of the agreement with Türkiye and the UN – without the participation of Russia.
