German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius forecasts that Russia's war against Ukraine will not end in the near future, the Ukrainian language service of Germany's media outlet DW reported on Feb. 14.

"There will be no short-term end to the war," he said before a meeting with his NATO counterparts in Brussels on Feb. 14.

Pistorius believes that neither Ukraine nor Russia is likely to be able to win in the short term, therefore, it is important to place the right emphasis on the planned arms supplies to Kyiv so that it can effectively defend itself against Russian aggression, he said.

Pistorius sees strengthening air defense and supplying ammunition as its current priorities. The German "spring package" of weapons for Ukraine is on its way, he added.
