A majority of Germans now support providing greater military and financial aid to Ukraine as long as Russia remains unwilling to agree to a ceasefire or peace talks, according to an INSA poll for Bild newspaper conducted on Feb. 5–6.
52 percent of respondents said the United States and European countries should increase support for Ukraine under those conditions, while 35% disagreed and 13% gave no answer.
When asked what form of aid they favored, 12% supported military help only, 12% financial help only, and 28% backed both.
Supporters of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) overwhelmingly rejected both types of assistance (65% against in both groups).
On the separate question of whether they are concerned that Russia could attack a NATO member such as Poland or Lithuania in the near future, 54% said yes—an 8-percentage-point drop from an INSA survey in September 2025.
On Oct. 19, 2025, an INSA poll showed that most Germans oppose paying Bürgergeld benefits to Ukrainian refugees and want Ukrainians of draft age to return to their homeland.
