Jail time for Russian spy convicted in Poland
A district court in Poland’s Gdansk has sentenced a Russian national to two and a half years in prison for espionage on behalf of Moscow, Radio Gdansk reported on April 25.
The authorities determined that the man, who was legally residing in Poland, had engaged in spying for seven years under the cover of business operations. He engaged with historical reenactment hobby groups where he made contacts with both active and former Polish military personnel to acquire information.
The man gathered intelligence about military units in northeastern Poland and worked to identify critical elements of the Polish armed forces.
He was found to have provided information regarding the locations and structures of specific military units, as well as details about the equipment and weaponry they used.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
