Japan’s Terra Drone invests in Ukrainian interceptor drones

Japanese drone company Terra Drone Corporation, through its
subsidiary Terra Inspectioneering, has made strategic investments in Ukrainian
defense firm WinnyLab, which develops and manufactures interceptor
drones, the company said
on April 28.
The investment continues Terra Drone’s previous support for Ukrainian developer Amazing Drones, the statement said.
“Through this investment, Terra Drone will add fixed-wing interception capabilities suited for longer-range and longer-endurance operations to its existing short-range rapid-response interception capabilities, further accelerating the development of its layered defense system,” the company said.
In March, Terra Drone said it planned to scale up its operations in Ukraine and expand use of the technical expertise gained there in active combat to develop international projects.
When it announced its deal with Amazing Drones, Terra Drone said it intended to accelerate development and delivery of unmanned systems such as interceptor drones, first-person-view (FPV) drones, reconnaissance drones, and unmanned surface vehicles (USVs).
In late April, Ukraine began deploying Terra Drone’s latest
interceptor, the Terra A1, which was developed with Amazing Drones. The
Japanese company said Ukrainian military operators have started using the drone
in operations and are providing feedback to developers.
