Kellogg refutes Zelenskyy: ‘We track every dollar’ in US aid
The United States knows where the funds allocated for Ukraine’s aid are being spent, and oversight is handled by special inspectors, US presidential envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg said in an interview with Newsmax on Feb. 6.
Responding to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement that
Ukraine had received only $76 billion out of the $177 billion allocated by the
US, Kellogg said, “We’re trying to figure that out too.”
“The United States and the American people have provided
Ukraine with over $174 billion. We have put inspectors on the ground both in
Ukraine and here to track these funds. So we know exactly where they are going,”
said President Donald Trump’s envoy.
He explained that part of the allocated funds was used for
weapons production in the US before being supplied to Ukraine.
“So if he [Zelenskyy] thinks all $174 billion is sitting in
a bank in Ukraine, of course, we’re replenishing stockpiles, of course, we’re
building up our supplies, and that’s why we have to buy [weapons] here in the
US,” Kellogg added.
On Feb. 2, in an interview with the Associated Press,
Zelenskyy said Ukraine had received only $76 billion out of the $177 billion in
US aid.
On Feb. 5, after meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David
Lammy, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine continues to receive military support from
the US, but negotiations on new aid packages are currently not taking place.
On Feb. 3, President Donald Trump expressed interest in
purchasing Ukrainian rare earth metals in exchange for US aid. Zelenskyy later
said Ukraine was open to Trump’s proposal.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
