Drones attack Russia’s Port Kavkaz, authorities allege fatality
Drones attacked Port Kavkaz in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, hitting a ferry vessel, regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported on July 23.
The strike caused casualties, including one fatality among the crew members and port employees, Kondratyev claimed. Following the explosion, ambulances and firefighters rushed to the port.
A loud explosion was previously reported in Kerch, leading to the closure of the illegally built Crimean Bridge to traffic, the Telegram channel Krymsky Veter said. The Russian air defense fired at targets from Mount Mithridat towards Kuban, the report said.
Port Kavkaz is a railway station and small port on the Chushka Spit in Krasnodar Krai, Russia, located in the Kerch Strait. The port can accommodate vessels up to 130 meters long, 14.5 meters wide, and up to 5 meters deep. It also has a car ferry that connects Krasnodar Krai and Crimea (Port Kavkaz — Port Krym).
