Lessons in the underground school are conducted in a mixed format. Some classes are held online and some in person, said Olena Zbytska, head of the Education Department of the Industrialnyi District.

Students in grades 1-4 will have three lessons each, and older students will have four lessons.

The school has already been attended by 230 children. Starting Sept. 1, 900 students, including 200 first-graders, are expected to start their studies.

"We tried to create the same conditions as in a regular school," said Olena Zbytska.

“That's why we have classrooms, a resource room for lessons with a psychologist and a pedagogical workshop where teachers gather in between lessons. There is also a cafeteria and a medical room.”

The first underground school will also host the national multi-subject test.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
