Ukraine’s State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has charged the director of the Defense Department of Kherson Regional Administration with corruption, the SBI reported on Aug. 19.

The official’s name was not disclosed in the statement, but the administration’s website lists Pavlo Kozyrev as the department’s director.

According to the report, the Kherson administration announced a tender for military uniforms and clothing, with the contract ultimately being awarded to a pre-determined company.

The products supplied only visually resembled military attire, falling short of the requirements of the Defense Ministry. As a result, the state incurred losses exceeding UAH 21 million ($507,000).

The official faces up to five years in prison.
