Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara postponed planned visits to Germany and Norway because of intensified Russian attacks and the worsening security situation in Ukraine, a Defense Ministry source told NV.

“Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara postponed visits to Germany and Norway that had been planned for this week because of the situation in Ukraine and the increase in Russian attacks. This requires immediate attention and faster implementation of all countermeasures,” the ministry said.

The source said talks with international partners would be held in other formats, while new aid packages and measures to support Ukraine are expected to be prepared.

On Sept. 28, Khmara called on EU countries to finance production of interceptors to counter Russian jet-powered attack drones. He said Ukraine already uses interceptor missiles to destroy such drones, while Ukrainian manufacturers are also developing their own systems.

Khmara also called for Ukraine to receive air-to-air missiles, man-portable air defense systems and ammunition for F-16 fighter jets, as well as additional Patriot missiles to counter Russian ballistic missiles.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
