Kremlin admits blast on Crimean Bridge but denies any damage
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented the attack on the Crimean Bridge by Ukraine’s Security Service, falsely claiming there was no damage on June 4.
During a briefing, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that “there was indeed an explosion” on the Crimean Bridge but claimed the structure “is working,” according to Russian state media.
Peskov said Russia is “taking precautionary measures” following what he acknowledged as the third Ukrainian attack on the illegally constructed bridge connecting occupied Crimea to mainland Russia.
On June 3, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) officially announced that it had carried out a new, carefully planned special operation targeting the bridge. According to the SBU, the explosion caused severe damage to the lower-level support piers, leaving the bridge in what the agency described as “a state of emergency.”
The operation reportedly took several months to prepare. Ukrainian agents mined the bridge’s underwater supports, and the first explosive device was detonated at 4:44 a.m. on June 3. No civilian casualties were reported.
Following the blast, Russian-installed occupation authorities temporarily closed the bridge. They later claimed that traffic had resumed after a two-and-a-half-hour suspension.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
