Russia’s Foreign Ministry summoned Armenian
ambassador Gurgen Arsenyan to protest Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
being welcomed in Yerevan for the recent European Political Community summit,
the ministry said on May 7.
The ministry said Zelenskyy made “terrorist threats” against Russia during his remarks at the event. In a statement, it labeled the Ukrainian president “the leader of the Kyiv Nazi regime” and criticized official Yerevan for not condemning what Moscow called Zelenskyy’s “outrageous behavior,” saying it was inconsistent with the “partner nature” of Russian‑Armenian relations.
Earlier on May 7, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan said his
country is not an ally of Russia when it comes to the war in Ukraine. He also
said he will not attend the May 9 parade in Moscow because he is occupied with
his election campaign.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
