Kremlin reports deadlock on territory in Ukraine talks, signals no concessions

There has been no progress on territorial issues in previous
rounds of peace talks on Ukraine, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s press
secretary Dmitry Peskov said, adding that the next meeting will take place “as
soon as circumstances allow.”
Peskov made the remarks during a briefing on March 26,
Russian state media reported.
He said there has been “no progress on key issues” in the
talks, particularly on territories.
Russia has “not lost interest in negotiations” but intends
to continue what it calls its “special military operation” — Moscow’s term for
its unprovoked war against Ukraine.
Moscow is in contact with the United States and expects to
hold the next round of peace talks as soon as circumstances allow, the Kremlin
spokesman added.
On March 21–22, Ukrainian officials met in Miami with Steve
Witkoff and Jared Kushner, representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry described the talks as substantive.
On March 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an
interview with Reuters that the United States had proposed security guarantees
for Ukraine in exchange for the withdrawal of Ukrainian Defense Forces from
Donbas.
Earlier reports said a new round of trilateral talks in the
Ukraine–Russia–U.S. format had been postponed due to the war in the Middle
East.
