Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has denied claims by the owner of Russia’s Wagner mercenary company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, that his son, Nikolay Peskov, was fighting with Wagner in Ukraine, Russian news agency RBC reported on April 24.

However, Peskov said his son “once served in the armed forces” and confirmed that his son “did indeed take part” in the war against Ukraine.

“I don’t want to comment any more,” Peskov said.

Earlier, Wagner leader Prigozhin claimed that Peskov’s son had fought in Ukraine as a mercenary.

In an interview with Russian propagandist Alexander Simonov, Prigozhin said that Peskov had allegedly come to him and asked “to take him (his son) as an ordinary gunner.”

According to Prigozhin, Peskov’s son, who “lived part of his life in the United States or the United Kingdom,” allegedly “worked knee-deep in dirt and shit on the Uragan multiple launch rocket system.”
