Kudrytskyi ousted as Ukrenergo head
The supervisory board of Ukraine’s power grid operator Ukrenergo has voted to remove Volodymyr Kudrytskyi from his position as head of the company, Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak reported via Telegram on Sept. 2.
Forbes reported that the supervisory board held an emergency meeting late in the evening on the same day. The meeting was initiated by Kudrytskyi himself, a source told the publication.
According to public broadcaster Suspilne, the decision to remove Kudrytskyi was supported by three state-appointed board members: Yurii Tokarskyi, Oleksandr Baraniuk, and Yurii Boiko, as well as one independent member, Roman Pionkovskii. Two other independent members voted against the removal.
Kudrytskyi will remain in his position as chairman of the board at Ukrenergo until Sept. 4. Following his departure, current board member Oleksii Brekht will serve as acting head of Ukrenergo.
Kudrytskyi’s term began in 2020 and was supposed to last until August 2025. International organizations involved in funding Ukraine’s reconstruction have previously called to avoid firing the official before the vacant seats on Ukrenergo’s supervisory board are filled.
