Railway bridge in Russia’s Kursk Oblast collapses under train
A railway bridge in Russia’s Kursk Oblast collapsed under a freight locomotive on the morning of June 1, injuring three people, including a machinist with leg injuries, with Russia’s Investigative Committee alleging sabotage, regional governor Alexander Hinshtein reported.
The collapse occurred at the 48th kilometer of the Trosna-Kalinovka route in the Zheleznogorsky district, causing part of the train to fall onto the road below, which was subsequently closed.
The Russian Investigative Committee claimed the Kursk and Bryansk oblast bridges' collapses were due to explosions.
In another incident, a Bryansk Oblast bridge collapsed onto a passenger train on June 1, killing at least seven, including a machinist, and injuring nearly 50, with a breastfed infant among the severely injured, according to Bryansk Oblast Governor Alexander Bogomaz and RIA Novosti.
Bogomaz alleged that the Bryansk Oblast collapse was also caused by an explosion.
