Local authorities have begun to build additional defense lines in Kyiv Oblast in the event of a new Russian offensive from Belarus, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, commander of the defense of Kyiv, reported on his Telegram channel on Jan. 23.
He included photos of some of the new defenses.
As can be seen in the images, strongholds of the Defense Forces on the outskirts of the capital are being reinforced with long-term fortifications.
“The installation and arrangement of firing structures on possible enemy routes of advance continues,” Pavlyuk said.
“Additionally, the process of equipping shelters to protect personnel continues. For this, reinforced concrete structures are used, which are installed below the level of the ground surface – in order to maximize the life of military personnel.”
According to the lieutenant general, this type of fortification will allow “the most efficient and safe organization of the work of command and observation posts, as well as platoon and company strongholds.”
