The authorities of the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv are stepping up preparations for the city’s defense, the head of Kyiv City Military Administration, Mykola Zhyrnov, said on April 16.
At the same time, he said that Kyiv’s streets had been unblocked and connections within the capital city were improved.
"Due to the significant number of residents returning to the capital, we reiterate that the city remains dangerous," Zhyrnov said.
"We urge the capital's residents, especially women, children, students and the elderly, who have a place to live outside the city, not to return yet."
The military administration head also addressed drivers, reminding them of parking rules and the ban on driving on public transport lanes.
Zhyrnov again urged citizens not to ignore air raid alerts and immediately go to shelters if they sound.
