French President Emmanuel Macron condemned a Russian drone strike on a railway station in Dnipro, where a drone hit a platform near two trains, in a post on X on Oct. 29.
He expressed his condolences to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.
"In this context, we must aim for much more than the local ceasefire agreed upon in Oleshky. It is unacceptable that Russia continues to reject all such proposals, pursue escalation and attack civilians," Macron wrote.
He said Europe must "redouble its efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace and bring Russia to the negotiating table."
On Oct. 29, Russian forces struck a railway station in Dnipro with a jet-powered drone. The attack hit a platform where train No. 866, traveling from Dnipro to Zaporizhzhia, was located. At least 14 people have been killed and 14 others injured.
Following the strike on the railway station, new explosions were reported in Dnipro. Ukraine's Air Force warned that several Russian jet-powered drones were heading toward the city. Power outages were reported in parts of Dnipro after the explosions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the United States and Europe to respond decisively to Russia's escalation and tighten sanctions against Moscow.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
